Let me just put it this way. I have been to as many bead stores in LA as I have been to bars. After finding this one, I am pretty sure I don’t have to slop my way around any other location again. Walked in and literally gasped. Poked myself to be sure I wasn’t dreaming. Aisles and Aisles of well organized, thematic, and color coordinated findings galore. The store is divided into three sections: findings, chain, and children’s.The findings room: We’re talking every size of headpins, spring rings, clasps, etc, and in 4 options – gold, silver, brass, and copper! The stuff literally is stacked from ceiling to floor. They have TONS of charms sold in bulk at SUPER cheap prices – featuring everything from religious charms (sectioned by religion rather than all jumbled together, and including rosary materials!) to a huge selection of skulls!The chain room: is basically my heaven. I have been looking EVERYWHERE for some gold chain and found it BY THE AISLE here! AND – it’s all perfectly priced and organized! They not only have silver, gold, yellow gold, copper, and brass colored chains, but also pink, blue, white, green, etc. They also sell them by the reem in addition to by the foot. Amazing. The last room was full of what I consider “children’s” beads – wooden, plastic, funky, brightly colored, etc. A perfect resource for a teacher or parent!If all this amazingness weren’t enough, the staff here were 100% cordial and interactive. I had some great conversations with the gals working the day I visited and even gave some of them my card. They also have beautiful sample pieces on display and put your purchases in a nifty reusable jewelry bag!I LOVE YOU, Athenian Fashions!
I agree that this place id well organized, but it was expensive as hell compared to all the bead shops nearby.I did not like that they did not cut the bulk chain to your needs Body Jewelry, you have to purchase the pre-cut 5 foot hacks.I also did not see anything here that was not for sale in the same area for about 25-30% less.

The main reason I go is because they have a great selection of seed beads! You can find any color there! ?All along the downtown LA bead district one can find many things, but its almost impossible to find a place that sells beads of all different colors. This place has a huge selection and u can purchase a pound of beads for 7 bucks! Check it out!
I couldn’t help but leave here with all kinds of things that I didn’t know I needed. HAHA!! I came in and thought that maybe I would be able to find a few toggle clasps and things. ?And, I did but I found so many other things as well. I found toggles Stainless Steel Earrings, crystals, all kinds of beads and semiprecious gems, etc. It was like being in a beading craft store or warehouse packed full of every kind of bead or material that you could possible need. I got some pretty cool ideas there too. Not bad!! THe girls who work here are helpful and they surprisingly know where everything is. The store is well kept, neat Stainless Steel Jewelry, organized and I like that I found all the items I was intentionally looking for to be on sale. Cool!

My fianc�� purchased my ring in Newport, RI and since we live in LA, I was looking for someone who works with estate jewelry to resize it. ?When we came to Kurt, he was very honest. ?He said he didn’t want to be responsible for anything happening to the setting as the stones could fall out due to re-sizing. ?He advised us to go back to where the ring was purchased, especially since that jeweler already guaranteed his work. ?I think it takes a lot of integrity to turn someone away and to be so honest. ?Several months later, my fianc�� and I began the search for our wedding bands. ?We stopped by Excalibur and within minutes I saw the ring perfect for him. ?It even fit him, no re-sizing needed! ?Now that is fait. ?I on the other hand wanted a vintage diamond eternity band and was considering have one custom made until I saw a very unique piece at Excalibur. ?No other jeweler I had been too had a ring like this so I knew it was special. ?We couldn’t be happier with the service we received.Excalibur is a true gem and I highly recommend exploring their unique inventory. ?I will continue to come back here as long as I live in LA and it is always a pleasure to be welcomed back! ?Thank you for everything, Sohelia, Danny and Kurt! I got exactly what I wanted. ?Danny helped me pick out the perfect setting for my family diamond. ?He worked with what I wanted, was very patient and had the ring ready in timely fashion. ?He made what seems like an extremely difficult task very hassle free. ?The store is a very comfortable setting and has a very unique and extensive collection. ?The last thing I wanted to do was go to a mall jeweler. ?Excalibur came as a recommendation buy a good friend. ?Thanks Andrew. ?I highly recommend that if you want to get something timeless at a very competitive price GO TO EXCALIBUR!
I am so impressed with Excalibur! I have been searching the city for a dependable, honest and yet stylish jeweler and Excalibur is it. Their jewelry is elegant and very fairly priced, but even more importantly their jeweler is a true master.I had an eternity band that needed to get resized and altered slightly and another ring to trade in. I went to a number of jewelers and the others just didn’t compare in terms of their fairness, expertise or courtesy. I was hesitant at first to even try Excalibur because while they are an independent store, they reside inside of Paper Bag Princess which is a vintage store that specializes both in very high end fashion and rudeness. The staff are notoriously unhelpful, even the security guard seems like he’s judging you. Excalibur’s staff on the other hand are welcoming and supportive. Which although it sounds funny, is extremely important when buying wedding rings and or any other kind of jewelry really. Again, Excalibur is a great place!
First of all, let me say that I have never written a Yelp review before, but my excellent experience here has prompted me to do so now. ?My fiance and I wanted an antique engagement ring and after much searching and a couple of strike outs, landed here. ?The staff is phenomenal. ?I cannot agree more with other reviewers who note the high level of customer service before, during and after purchase and laid back environment. ?We had the unfortunate luck to lose one of the diamonds out of the prong setting. ?I called up Danny and he got it fixed quickly and for NO CHARGE. ?I dare you to find an antique jeweler elsewhere that would do this gratis. ?I highly recommend them and will be using them for all of my future jewelry needs. ?Thanks Danny!
The search for an antique engagement ring can be quite a challenge. ?The east coast has plenty of antique malls that have a variety of vendors under one roof, but here in LA I haven’t been able to find the same experience. ?Upon a recommendation from a lady at the flea market as well as some googling, I decided to check this place out. ?It was an amazing experience. ?They were polite, helpful without being pushy, and friendly. ?I had a pretty good idea what I wanted Bridal Jewelry, and was surprised to find about three trays of rings in our price range. ?They actually would bring out a tray of rings and had an empty tray for us to put our favorites for comparison. ?Most stores only show you one ring at a time due to insurance policies, but they not only let us see more than one at a time but let us walk over to the window with two on my finger to compare in the sunlight. ?We narrowed it down to about five, then down to two. ?The prices in our favorites ranged from just under 1000 to 2000 (depending on stone size/quality as well as white gold vs. platinum). ?It was an amazing experience. ?The woman behind the counter (Sohaila Stainless Steel Jewelry, if I remember correctly) was very helpful. ?The security guard was nice, and even offered his opinion when asked. ?They were able to clean it up and size it and have it all ready for me the very next day. ?We will be back for the wedding bands. ?And I may even bring my grandma’s engagement ring to be restored.

After doing my research I started shopping around for a magical piece of carbon. The Lims have great prices and excellent service. They helped me out and I did not feel any pressure unlike my experience at St. Vincent’s. I was able to save some money with the Lim’s and I got exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend The Lim’s.
I wholeheartedly recommend Lim’s.Here I was, all set to go to a major chain store, when a friend referred me to Lim’s, in the heart of the Jewelry District. I know next to nothing about diamonds. Everyone there was super nice to me and my fiancee. They even offered me a bottled water. Because it was hot and I was sweating profusely.I ended up getting a ring that the fiancee adores. I thought I’d pay out the wazoo, ended up paying significantly less. Barring the apocalypse, we’re going back for our wedding bands.Highest recommendation.
Bought my fiance’ her engagement ring and our wedding bands from Lim’s. Seeing the smile on her face was worth going to Lims alone. Not to mention the friendly pressure free service. After having a good experiences with the fullerton store, the choice was easy. Buy from 1 of the 2 Lim’s locations. Service exceeded expectations. Whats also good is I received a GIA certification with my purchase. GIA is one of the best certifications you can get for a diamond. The way it was explained to me was, it will tell you about the quality of the diamond. Jewelry is something I can NOT buy online. I just dont trust the internet / shipping service. I am lucky I live close to Lims, I hope they are around for a long time.
Located across the street from St. Vincent’s, in another one of the Jewelry District’s many jewelry centers, The Lim’s Jewelry Company is now my go-to place for jewelry. Why? Well, 1) I don’t know much about jewelry, 2) the family running the booth is very nice Costume Jewelry, and 3) the prices seem reasonable.Months ago, I, along with my then-fianc��’s best friend, ventured down there on a mission to find an engagement ring, first searching through St. Vincent’s with no luck, and then walking up Hill Street checking out the other jewelry centers.What’s a little harrowing about the jewelry mart is the sheer number of vendors hocking their wares. You’re threading your way through the gauntlet, passing by booths while checking out what they have to offer, and at the same time, trying not to make eye-contact with the booth owners sitting inside. I’ve always felt it was sort of like walking into the Mos Eisley cantina whenever I went to the jewelry mart.The last thing I wanted was some paunchy, balding man using some weird Middle Eastern Mind Trick on me: “My friend! Your fianc��, she like this ring, yeah? I give you bargain. You buy, ah??”No shank you… In fact, one vendor convinced me to leave him deposit to hold a ring, only to return from Lim’s and find out he already spent the money on something!! WTF?? It’s that kind of place wholesale Silver Jewelry, ladies and gents. Don’t be so hasty to part with your cash unless you’re gonna buy FOR SURE!!Now, the nice folks at the Lim’s Jewelry booth got me to part with my money. In addition to being nice, and seemingly trustworthy, I also chose an engagement ring after looking at only TWO rings. This, after telling them my price range and what I had in mind. It felt like serendipity.Now, I don’t know if the listed prices are marked up on purpose, but the lady there gave me a deal. The price seemed reasonable and the ring I chose was really nice. The ring also came with papers assuring the gem’s “pedigree”, or whatever it’s called.Now what I like about Lim’s, other than the fact they’re super-nice, is that they always remember me, and even more impressive, that they remember my wife’s tastes. We’ve gone back and bought our wedding bands there, and also a couple of other things and they’ve always been gracious. Now, whenever we need to get our jewelry cleaned and ring sizes adjusted, we simply park at one of the pay lots on Hill Street, just south of Seventh, and make a beeline for Lim’s, my safe haven in the Jewelry District.
I was referred to Lim’s by a coworker and ever since I went to them for an engagement ring, they’re my go-to jewelers. ?They provide quality products and service at reasonable prices. ?I’ve shopped around and found that Lim’s gives you the most (and best) for your money. ?They have something for every budget. ?They don’t pressure you into buying something and are very accommodating of your requests. ?The owners are very friendly and they’ve been around since 1982. ?Go to Lim’s. ?You’ll be glad you did.
The Lim’s are super-nice and helpful. ?I bought my wedding bands here and the prices are great. ?High quality and low price. ?What more could you ask for?! ?As happens with my type of ring (eternity band with small diamonds all the way around) Wholesale Costume Jewelry, a stone fell out. ?They fixed it for free and told me I could always bring it back if that ever happens. ?Don’t go anywhere else!
I went to Lims last year to buy ?an engament ring for my girlfriend. I was recommended there by a friend. I really don’t know much about diamonds so before visiting there I tried to get informed online. I found out about IGA, diamond cuts, clarity, colors etc. So I felt a bit more confident when I got there. ? The Lims showed me lot’s of diamonds and settings and also let me take my time and explained a great deal about each diamond I was looking at. They explained how different cuts reflect light and that one of the biggest factors in a good diamond is the cut. I finally decided on a 1carat round cut. It took less then 20mins to get my diamond set and meanwhile I enjoyed a great conversation with the Lims they are really really very nice people. I got my ring along with an EGL certificate that valued it at over “double” the price I paid for it. I also received a lovely gift bag and was informed that I could always come back if I ever decided to upgrade to a larger size and I would get the “full credit” I paid for my ring. ? I am definately a return customer. ? On a recent trip to the mall with my fiance I stopped by the Kays jeweler and found out that they don’t give you any kind of certification on your diamond. Also at Kays they offered me $3200 over what I paid for to buy my fiance’s ring and buy one from them. “No Thanks”

My friend recently got engaged and thought he had a diamond that he needed to be put into a new setting. ?I had heard my ex-boss talk about a jeweler he knew and highly recommended, so I emailed him and got the referral to see Vic or Raffi.We went downtown to check out the shop. ?It’s been a while since I’d been to the jewelry district. ?From the moment we arrived, Raffi was very attentive, never pushy, no pressure to purchase anything. ?Also, when we let him know that the price range we were looking to spend was $500, he didn’t miss a beat and pulled out some settings for us to view. The diamond ring that my friends fiancee had received from her family was actually CZ, so we ended up buying a gorgeous sapphire/diamond ring. ?The total with re-sizing was $600, so a little over his planned budget, but still very reasonable and it was well worth the extra $100. ?A beautiful ring.I’d definitely go back here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. ?While we were waiting for the re-sizing, I was browsing the engagement rings/settings. ?Raffi was extremely helpful and showed me all the rings I wanted to look at, even though we weren’t there to buy one today.They had a variety of price ranges, which was great for us. ?But they also have more expensive jewelry too. ?One of the three-stone diamond rings I was viewing was $42k! ?Beautiful, but a *little* out of the current budget.
My husband purchased my engagement ring and wedding bands from Raffi and Vic and we were just thrilled with their service, knowledge, and selection. We did our research ahead of time so we knew what we wanted and what that should cost. We visited a number of jewelers and Personal Touch had exactly what we were looking for and their pricing was fair. Also their no pressure environment made shopping for our ring a pleasant experience. We were so thrilled with them that we’ve referred them to all of our friends – one friend even flew over from Australia and purchased his engagement ring from them!
Raffi and Vic are the most honest and helpful guys in the industry! ?Their prices are fair and I trust them implicitly. ?My husband has been dealing with them for years and my brother flew all the way from Canada to get his diamond from them. ?I couldn’t recommend them more highly Body jewelry!

I drove all over town for three days straight and had some of the WORST experiences! I was trying to get rid of a gold ring that had emerald and diamonds and every single place I went to would only offer me $150 MAX. I finally found this place and they offered $275! The fees to get the jewelry back out is also really great. You have four months and it will only cost an additional $25. Above all this, this place is seriously FIRST CLASS. I felt comfortable Costume Jewelry, the man that helped us was extremely nice and I felt that I could trust them 100%. I will ALWAYS come back to this place and would reccommend them to anybody trying to get the most money for your jewelry!

This is a great place for getting something unique and different for yourself or as a gift. ?They have a small selection of jewelry that is always changing. ?But the best thing about BLC is… they buy your good stuff and give you a GREAT price for it. ?They are very discreet about the whole process too. ?So folks if you have an expense shopping habit go to BLC and off load it on them.

I’ve done some stupid things in my life, but purchasing my wife’s jewelry from Matthew’s Jewelry isn’t one of them. I’d be stupid not to buy here. I’m not the typical girl. I generally DON’T like perusing jewelry stores because of the death stares of the clerks whom innately posses the 6th jeweler sense of knowing about my slim wallet so I am a waste of time to them. This high level of discomfort results in my entering and leaving a jewelry store in nanoseconds. My latest discovery pearl earrings, however, is that I AM a girl: I just needed a proper jewelry store to bask me in customer service. Michael B is a high-end jeweler located on Ventura in the one of the busiest areas of Studio City. Very swank and high-end (I’m talking you have to buzz to enter the store); is small but feels like you walked into a store-sized diamond. Being prominent on many top LA lists for jewelry stores, one would expect snooty behavior and an over-presented store but it was modern with perfectly accessible and decorated cases. I am VERY judgmental based on first impressions and Michael B and crew instantly made me feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Women (AFTER they realized that she was now rich and deserved pampering). I was instantly greeted by every employee including Michael himself even though they were helping other customers. Once it was my turn, I told the female clerk that I needed a ring band fitted on a vintage costume jewelry ring but wasn’t sure if that was possible since it wasn’t real. Michael took over the transaction and explained how he can re-do the entire ring (melt a whole new band for it) but that he can’t fit it since it is fake. He was VERY pleasant and filled with knowledge. He did say he could provide one of those ring guards to allow me to temporarily wear it. I have very long and slender fingers so it took a few tries but he found one which made the ring wearable. When I asked how much it was, he replied Silver Jewelry, “Just take it. No problem”. WOW! I am aware that this was probably a couple dollar item but that isn’t the point. It is customer service like that which builds a dedicated brand loyalty base. I then asked to look at engagement rings just for fun as I never have in my adult life. I always envisioned an antique yellow amethyst cocktail ring with a band of diamonds versus a traditional engagement ring and he had EXACTLY what I was looking for. Modern but a antique-inspired cocktail ring for $10,800. I tried it on and BAM! I was suddenly giggly and glowing! I had NO idea I was THAT girl with engagement rings! Of course Michael instantly told my boyfriend not to pass me up blah blah. He was trying to sell the ring but wasn’t rude and too pushy about it. I have never felt so pampered and welcome at a jewelry store. Michael B definitely has a loyal customer in both myself and my boy (and his name is Michael B too!). I guess diamonds really ARE a girl’s best friend!
After researching and visiting jewelry store literally nonstop for over two ?months I decided that Michael B. was the ?best possible choice for my engagement ring. ?Most of the stores I visited had relatively nice options but there was something about the rings at Michael B that just felt better. ?The family is fantastic to work with and really put in the effort to get the ring made before my vacation over Christmas. ?Very impressed.

My husband and I went to get new rings for our 10th Anniversary a few years ago (we married young and had pretty cheapo rings from our wedding)… I decided we should check out places in the jewelery district in L.A. ?We went into Viva Jewelery Ltd. as our first stop (just by chance) and met Fred and I believe his wife. ?Fred sat us down and educated us on diamonds, diamond pricing in the district, etc. ?After telling him what we were looking for he gave us a price. ?We didn’t want to buy at the first place we went since we weren’t really sure what we were doing – so we spent the next few hours shopping around. ?We went to some of the big multi-booth marts and to a couple diamond importers – after poor service, shady people, pushy people, and prices that were pretty much the same if not more – we returned to Fred at Viva. ?We KNEW we had found our jeweler.We picked out our stone and I really wanted a fancy old fashioned looking filigree setting going into the day. ?Fred didn’t have exactly what I had in mind wholesale Silver Jewelry, but did tell me that if I brought in a photo he could likely have it replicated. ?But THEN, he showed me the stone in an ornate setting (different than what I wanted, but the same concept) – THEN he showed it to me in a simple setting, more classic, but still very pretty with diamonds set in the band. ?He told me that the stone should be showcased, not hidden and distracted from by an ornate setting. ?He said something to the effect of, “If you want that kind of a setting (meaning very ornate), let me sell you a cheaper diamond – you’ll never notice any flaws in that kind of setting. ?If you’re going to buy a beautiful, high quality diamond – you want to SEE it pearl earrings!” ?He was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! ?The setting he recommended shows off my stone BEAUTIFULLY – plus it has classic styling that I can’t see myself ever getting tired of.Less than a year later my cousin was going to propose to his girlfriend and needed to buy the ring. ?He had been to a few of the bigger name “engagement ring stores” in the mall and around town – so he knew their prices and service. ?I told him if he wanted to try the jewelry district before buying to let me know and we’d go see Fred. ?We went, and my cousin was SOOOOO impressed with the service AND the prices. ?He ?got a MUCH better stone than he could afford at any of the other places, and he felt informed and educated without being talked down to at all. ?I recommend Viva and Fred to all of my friends, and wouldn’t think of buying fine diamonds or jewelry anywhere else.
So while I didn’t make a purchase, I’d have to say that were I going to, I would do it here. Prior to today I knew absolutely nothing about diamonds, and I went to support a friend only, but I felt confident that I could trust Fred and he was extremely knowledgeable and comfortable. His pricing was fair and he was very honest and forthcoming, which especially when you’re buying something so expensive and important, you have to have. I totally think it’s smart to work with an individual dealer instead of a mass market kind of place where you have more negotiating room and get really focused attention and they give that to you here. The diamonds are all GIA certified and the selection is really good. I didn’t ask, but I also think he could get you something you wanted if he didn’t have it there. Parking is difficult, but you can park and walk a few blocks as the exercise is always helpful anyway and while you don’t have to make an appointment, better do to be safe not sorry (we had to wait 30 minutes without an appointment). Keep up the good work.

This place had an amazing selection of gold! Everything you could think of CZ Jewelry! The designs were very nice looking too, not like the cheap crap you see on the street. Prices were market rate, might change with volume, they look like a volume selling place. Help was nice not as informative as the other places I visited but still nice all the same.
